Advantages & Drawbacks of Using PLR Content

By James T. Maxwell

Many busy internet entrepreneurs struggle with the decision to use PLR or Private label rights content. Its widely accepted as a way for publishers and web developers to increase their search engine rankings because PLR is typically written on very niche specific topics. Articles can be published on your website, distributed via email newsletter and even posted on the company blog.

Others use PLR to create information products that they sell as ebooks, special reports and more. However, before using PLR content, publishers need to know all the pros and cons of doing so in order to maximize the benefits overall.

There are many pros to using PLR content. Here are a few:

- PLR enables you to utilize the expertise and knowledge of other writers familiar with your topic and niche industry. In fact, their knowledge can help make you a credible expert in your industry. Credibility and authority are both significant triggers when it comes to making a purchasing decision.

- If your skills are better utilized elsewhere, coaching for example or creating joint venture partnerships, it makes sense to leverage the talents of PLR writers to make the most of your time and strengths.

- It can take hours of your valuable time to research article topics, create catchy headlines, research the content, write the content and then of course edit and polish it so its ready for publication. Presumably this is time you could be spending making money. PLR takes time, it takes the writers time, not yours. All you have to do is decide where and how to use the content.

- PLR is cost effective. Hiring a ghostwriter to create content is a good way to save time and to have original content however ghostwritten content costs significantly more than PLR content because PLR content is often sold to several business owners who each have license to use the content as they see fit.

- Save you the hassle of dealing with a ghostwriter who may have difficulty meeting deadlines. PLR content is ready to roll when you purchase it.

- Easily edit the content so that it is more unique and represents your business in the way you'd like. Basically, you can do what you'd like to make it your own.

PLR Drawbacks To Keep In Mind

- Not all PLR is created equal and while there are tremendous benefits to utilizing PLR if you stumble upon a disreputable seller reworking the content can be more work than its worth. However this drawback can be easily eliminated by making sure the PLR seller you're doing business with has a stellar reputation. Its also important to understand the rights you're buying and what you can and cannot do with the content " full rights being the preference.

- Other people will publish the same content as you, but realize the Internet is a vast place and its not likely that your readers are going to see it all over the place. If you're concerned, you can rewrite your content for more uniqueness.

- A large number of article directories do not allow the submission of PLR content due to their duplicate content rules and the chance that other authors may be submitting the same article.

Overall, the drawbacks can be overcome and the benefits of using PLR " saving time, not having to write or think of ideas is very appealing.
