Long Term Care 101
By Terry Stanfield
What is Long-Term Care? When people consider the subject of long-term care, they often think about nursing homes. In fact, long-term care has little to do with nursing homes. Understanding the difference can help you protect your family and finances.
The Consequences of Living Longer
Long-term care is a continuum of care services and housing that you will need later in life. Think you won't live a long life? Think back 25 years ago. If you had cancer or a stroke, you simply died. Few ever heard of Alzheimer's. Today, it is the leading cause for long-term care services. The longer you live, the more likely you are to need care. The question is not who will take care of you, because your family will most often, but rather what will that care do to your family and finances.
Long-Term Care is Usually Custodial Care
Long-term care is defined as needing assistance with your activities of daily living (toileting, bathing, dressing, eating, transferring from one point to another, and continence). It also includes cognitive impairment so severe that the individual needs constant supervision. If you need custodial care, chances are it will be delivered in the community, not in a nursing home. Many of you have heard compelling statistics from The New England Journal of Medicine stating that 43% of those over age 65 will need nursing home care. What the article actually said is that that number may spend some time in a facility. The fact is, few end their days in one. Every study conducted finds that care is overwhelmingly provided at home. The key question, of course, is who is going to pay for it? Who Covers the Cost?
Medicare & VA
Medicare, the primary health care program for retirees pays only for skilled or rehabilitative care, not custodial care in any venue. Medicaid, a federal and state program for financially needy individuals will pay for custodial care, but primarily in nursing homes. Funding for home care and assisted living is very limited and based on availability of funds. Veterans believe that the VA will pay for home care, adult day care, or assisted living. As with Medicaid, funding is limited and generally based on service-related disability. In fact, the federal government has as much said this to veterans by encouraging them to purchase long-term care insurance through the new Federal Long-Term Care Insurance program. The result is that consumers are forced to pay privately for their care. Unfortunately, the best thought-out retirement plan rarely takes into consideration living a long life. Put another way, those assets and income have been allocated to pay for retirement, not for the consequences of living a long life. This results in the need to invade principal and divert income. As a result, one of a seniors' greatest fear, outliving their assets, literally may come true.
The Role of Long-Term Care Insurance
The use of long-term care insurance thus becomes an important part of planning for disability caused by living a long life. The product has two roles: helping keep families together and allowing your retirement portfolio to execute for the purpose for which it was intended, namely retirement. From a family perspective, who will provide your care? Like it or not, children will play a key role. Long-term care insurance (LTCI) doesn't replace the need for family involvement in providing care but rather builds on it. It pays professionals to assist the person with the toughest tasks such as toileting, bathing, feeding and continence. This, in turn, allows the family to provide care better and longer at home. That leads to a critical question: have YOU planned for the consequences of living a long life? From a financial point of view, LTCI allows your retirement plan to stay intact. That is particularly important given the recent steep decline in portfolio value. The product, in effect, protects the balance of your account value. LTCI also protects income. Although you may qualify for Medicaid to pay for nursing home costs by transferring assets, your income (pension, social security, IRA and or 401k payout) cannot be protected. When buying this insurance, look for a long-term care specialist. Consider their training, educational credentials, and commitment to help solve your long-term care needs. The key is whether they talk first about a plan or a product. If they are interested in the plan, you are dealing with a professional. If they focus first on product and price, consider getting another opinion.

Domestic Violence: Anyone Can Be A Victim!
By Debbi Angocicco
A person of any age, sex, race, culture, religion, education, employment or marital status can be a victim of domestic violence. There are many cases of women being abused, mostly, men are the perpetrators. But both men and women can be domestically abused. How about children living in a violent home? Yes, they can be victims too, they are those who likely to be neglected by their parents. Children living in homes where domestic violence resides are more likely to incur emotional and behavior problems.
Who are the victims of domestic violence? (i) A person of color. You may be afraid of discrimination. You may be afraid of being blamed for going out of your community for help. You may feel hopeless because of the stigma that domestic violence happens only to women of color. Therefore, you will not receive any help. (ii) A lesbian, gay, or transgendered person. You may be afraid of having people know about your sexual orientation. You may be afraid of prejudice. You may think that the law does not acknowledge homosexual relationships. (iii) A physically or mentally challenged or elderly. You may depend on your abuser to care for you. You may not have other people to help you. You may believe that you deserve the abuse because you are somewhat a burden to your partner. (iv) A male victim of abuse. You may be ashamed and scared that no one will believe you. You may be afraid that people will think less of you and undermine your manhood. A person from another country. You may be afraid of being deported. You may be afraid of not being treated fairly in courts. (v) If your religion makes it hard to get help. You may feel like you have to stay and not break up the family. You may believe that it is a sin in the eyes of God to leave your partner. You may think that by forgiving your abuser will help him change. (vii) A teen. If you are a teen, you could be at risk if you are dating someone who: is very jealous and/or spies on you like breaking into your e-mail account and mobile messages; will not let you end the relationship or break up with him; hurts you in any way, is violent, or brags about hurting and bossing other people around; puts you down or makes you feel bad about having your own life; forces you to have sex or makes you afraid to say no to sex; abuses drugs or alcohol; pressures you to use drugs or alcohol; has a history of bad relationships and blames it on their exes. (viii) A child in a violent home. Most children in these homes know about the violence. Parents may think children do not know about the violence, merely because they are not in the same room when it happens. Children often know what happened. They do not have to be eyewitnesses per se. They may hear the pounding and screaming. They may feel the tension between you and your husband. Sometimes, they blame their selves for the violence. Children living with violence are helpless, scared and upset. (ix) If you are being stalked. Stalking is repeated harassment that makes you feel like a prisoner of fear. A stalker can be someone you are acquainted with or a complete stranger. They often bother people by giving them unwanted attention. This can take the form of phone calls or gifts, or following people by going to where they work or live. This is a threat not only to you, but to your family as well.
It is very difficult for teenagers to leave their abuser if they attend the same school. They cannot hide from them or avoid them. Gay and lesbian teens are very isolated. They can be more scared of having their sexual orientation known, rather than the fact that they are being abused. If you think you are being abused, think about getting help. THERE IS HELP. If your family or friends warn you about the person you are dating, think about getting help. AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK. Tell friends, family members or anybody you can trust. Their perspective on your relationship may be more accurate than what you perceive it to be. There is help for you. You do not have to suffer in silence.
Violence in the home is dangerous for children. Scary noises, yelling and hitting is not an acceptable environment for raising a child. They are afraid for their parents and themselves. They fear of being taken away to live in homes or shelters. Children feel bad and small for they cannot stop the abuse. If they try to stop the fight, they are putting themselves in harms way. They can get hit by things that are thrown or weapons that are used. Children are equally damaged by domestic violence, just by seeing and hearing the violence.
Children living where there is violence are often neglected, for a parent who is being abused is hurt to much to attend to the child's needs. Children who often witness violence may be unable to sleep and/or interact with others, because they are scared that they might experience the same. Children cannot overcome such problems on their own, they need help.
If you are being stalked, you may think that you're not in danger because you're not physically hurt. But stalking, per re, is a crime. You need help to stop your stalkers. Put a stop before the stalker can do any harm to you. You can do so by seeking Personal Protection Order (PPO) or by informing the police, by: 1) telling the police every time the stalker makes contact with you; (2) keeping a book with you at all times so that you can write down the stalkers contacts; (3) saving phone messages from the stalker; (4) saving letters and gifts from the stalker; and (5) writing down information about the stalker, like the way they look, kind of car they drive and license plate number.

North Face Outlet
By Jaylen Derell
It was the year of 1968 when the rugged man invented the "north face" concept and the north face factory outlet. This outlet was created by two friends from San Francisco, on their names, Douglas Tompkins and Dick Klopp. The hunters or the skiers will remember forever this brand.
This brand's name is North Face. This brand it is called North Face. This brand was named after the face of the mountain where is the hardest way to climb. You are very safe if you use this brand's gear even if the worst conditions, for example, climbing the north face of a mountain which also has given the North's Face name.
They is a snowboarding and skiing accessories shop, the north face factory outlet wear, so it was an awesome site to see. Nobody was expecting for this site to increase it's popularity in such a short time. What's amazing about this is that many of the jackets range in prices from 300-500 and people can actually afford this.
The North Face products appeared very soon on the black market after people started to pay big amount of money for them. Although North Face items were sold even on the streets, the easiest and the most common way to sell them was e-bay.
The falsifiers had many problems such as bad material being used and the logos were misprinted often and always put in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also the falsifiers weren't using the proper technology in order to protect better the extreme sports fans.
On this site you will find for sure the original clothes. There is no doubt of their originality, because the north face factory offers just quality clothing.
When you'll visit this site, you'll realise that you don't need no more to buy low quality clothing because this outlet will offer you the gear you have always dreamed at. So everything you have to do is to enter http://thenorthfacefactoryoutlet.com and purchase any North Face Item you desire.
There aren't any falsified clothing on this site. You are assured 100% of the gear originality due to the fact that both of the sides are related between them and because of this, you won't find no false items. So, what are you waiting for?

3 Magical Ways to Let Your Opinions Be Known, Part 2
By Rhondole Scott
Isn't it amazing to be able to turn on a computer and access just about any idea or piece of information, useful or not? For many there is no other way, for so many have grown up with computers and accessible information. Many have taken their own stories or interests to the internet. Are you ready to share your thoughts and expertise to the world?
One of the fastest growing forms of presence on the internet is through blogging. Blogs have visual themes, and can focus on a wide variety of concepts such as updates for your group, journals or diaries, or tips related to the products or services being promoted.
There are options on blogs as well, with many free blogging sites available these days. All blogging sites will have rules such as the type of content, ads, and other rules intended to keep the blogging community safe and inviting.
Some blogging sites, like blogger, allow pay per click ads to be displayed in the blog. In fact this particular blogging community has an add-on for your site readily available for showing related google ads. Why google ads, you ask? Simple - Google owns this blogging community.
Another concept of online communication is pods. Pods are like mini blogs. Think of a blog as a collection, while a pod is more of a single-serving. Pods offer a few added features such as photos and links, but not as many features as blogging sites.
Social networking communities are another route that has attracted millions. Facebook and MySpace are two of the most popular sites. The focus of these sites caters toward the people, not so much the message they offer. They are community based, which means building a list of friends who also have pages in the community.
There are other options for making your presence known in the online world, but blogging, pods, and social networking have become the standards for online presence and communication. It's simple to set up, and gives you a great way to share stories and photos with your family, group or community.

Viral Marketing Personal Video - Best Way To Broadcast Yourself
By Alice Sy
In the field of medicine, a viral infection is always deemed communicable; meaning anybody who is infected with a virus can transmit that same virus to somebody else.
In online marketing, the term viral has roughly the same definition. For example if you use viral marketing personal video as a tool to broadcast yourself, you can be almost certain that you will be able to reach your target visitors because just like a virus, it has the ability to spread and infect others.
In order to do this, you must involve yourself in social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, or Friendster all of which have thousands of members to boat of. Moreover, these sties have video uploading features, allowing you to upload your videos to reach a great number of people.
Aside from these social networking sites, you can also take full advantage of YouTube, a video uploading site. YouTube may not be the best video uploading site on the Web, but it is by far the most popular. Billions of videos can be accessed in YouTube, thus when people search for a video clip, they always try to search it in YouTube.
It doesn't require a lot of time to register with these sites at all. You also do not have to pay to become a registered member and begin posting photos and videos.
In order to enjoy the benefits of this internet breakthrough, you must not simply sit down and wait for visitors to stumble on your video. It is essential to make a lot of contacts or friends whom you can invite to view your video. It may also be necessary to post an interesting ad to online classified ads. If you want to make a difference, then you must do something, not just for anything to happen.
